CNC-cut plywood rib geometry, FormTech detail
[ The FormTech Story ]

Built on a hunch that geometry could be honest.

For those looking for furniture that behaves like architecture — FormTech is a parametric design and fabrication studio in Lahore, working under Bilal Naeem Design Studio, producing CNC-cut pieces that come from modelling nature’s curves and resolving them into something you can actually sit in.

Brand philosophy

FormTech’s process focuses on resolving a complex curve in software, then proving it in plywood — precise geometry carrying a form that looks like it should have been bent.

We design pieces that are structurally honest, built from a compulsive need to see whether a flat sheet can hold a curve without cheating — all through CNC fabrication we run ourselves.

We believe the impact a piece makes in the mind of the viewer is the exact impact it makes in their space.

Our journey

An architecture degree, then a practice

An architecture degree, then a practice

Bilal Naeem graduated in architecture from Beaconhouse National University in 2019 and opened Bilal Naeem Design Studio the year after — working across interiors, facades and installation.

Furniture as a natural extension

Furniture as a natural extension

Furniture became a natural extension of the architectural practice. The same discipline — model it, test it, resolve it before anything is cut — applied at the scale of an object you can sit in.

Flat sheets into built curves
The method

Flat sheets into built curves

We found the work in turning flat plywood into soulful curves: nesting ribs, cutting them on the CNC, and assembling them into a form that was never steam-bent. The bend is built, not forced.

Two collections, one logic
Today

Two collections, one logic

Fuse bonds fins edge to edge so the form reads as one mass. Louvre sets them apart with a CNC-cut spacer so the gap becomes rhythm. Every piece leaves the workshop in Lahore finished by hand.

Meet the designer

Bilal Naeem, founder of FormTech

Bilal Naeem

Founder & Architect

An architect first, and a furniture designer because of it. Bilal graduated in architecture from Beaconhouse National University in 2019 and established Bilal Naeem Design Studio the year after, working across interiors, facades and architectural fabrication.

His interest sits at the meeting point of computational design and fabrication craft — Grasshopper models, nested toolpaths, flat-cut construction. FormTech exists because the studio kept asking what happens when furniture is drawn the way a building is.

The furniture is the result of an architectural and structural understanding. It exists because he is an architect first.

Our approach

01.

Active Intuition

Design begins as a conversation, and instinct is the first draft. We trust the hunch, then make the geometry prove it.

02.

Intelligent Systems

Form is resolved parametrically before a sheet is touched. Every rib, every angle is a deliberate output, not a happy accident.

03.

Honest Material

We work in single materials and let them show their build. Birch plywood, cut flat — the construction is the ornament.

04.

Thoughtful Execution

Machine precision sets the form; the hand finishes it. Perfection is a series of decisions, never an accident.
