Consoles

A console has to do a lot with very little depth. These are drawn at eighteen inches or less — enough for a lamp, a bowl and a set of keys — while the cantilever or the splayed foot carries the load down without a bracket in sight.

Marble and travertine tops oversail the timber on all sides, leaving a shadow gap so the stone reads as resting rather than fixed. Lengths are made to the wall you have.
